Aluminum billet

Aluminum Billet

The main raw material for the production of aluminum profiles is aluminum billet. The existence of quality products is achieved only when quality raw materials are used. The smallest error in the production of billets is equal to the production of the worst aluminum profiles.

From each casting furnace, random analysis of the melt is performed 3 times at different stages of billet formation. After production, the billets are transferred to homogenization furnaces for homogenization operation or the leveling of the billets. Over a period of time, the billets are cut and packaged in certain sizes.

Aluminum billet is a type of aluminum ingot that is one of the semi-finished products of aluminum casting and is often used in the extrusion industry and is produced according to customers' orders in a variety of working alloy groups according to the international standard AA and in different diameters.

Aluminum Billet (English: Aluminum Billet) is one of the most widely used semi-finished products of aluminum casting, which is mainly used in the aluminum extrusion industry and is produced by continuous casting or DC.

The continuous casting process (DC casting), developed in 1933, is the method used today to produce aluminum extrusion billets. In this method, molten aluminum is poured into round water in a shallow depth. The mold usually has a round cross-section that begins to descend at a controlled speed when the melt begins to solidify in the bottom of the mold (animal) and water is sprayed onto the freshly frozen surface of the billet as it exits the mold.

Recently, the use of larger DC casting machines with programmable control systems has increased. Using sensors and computer software of automated systems, multiple casting parameters can be controlled.

Different alloys and billet sizes require different molds.

In aluminum billet casting, the molten metal inside the furnace is transferred to the degassing unit through refractory liners used with refractory liners used in different parts of the system, then to the filtration unit and finally to the freezing unit using Vertical direct refrigerants (DC) are transmitted. The DC casting method has advantages over other methods such as single-cast casting, especially for the production of high-strength alloys such as the 2000 and 7000 series:

1- Minimal fuzzy separation

2- Ability to produce large tickets

3- The lowest amount of cracks in high-strength alloys

4- Smooth and uniform transfer of melt at relatively low temperatures to prevent many problems

In general, the quality of aluminum billets directly and indirectly affects the efficiency and quality of the extrusion product.

Types of aluminum billets

1- Imported tickets

Such as tickets imported from two-wing companies, Rosal, Talco and…

2- Standard ticket

Includes products known in the market as standard billets

3- DC billet

Billets made of molten aluminum by DC casting or Directchill Casting are used mainly due to the difference with the products.

4- Re-melting or conversion billet

There are billets that are produced by remelting scrap aluminum. The biggest disadvantage of these billets is their inability to properly alloy.

Aluminum alloy billet

Types of seven-inch billets with 6063 alloy in standard size and 6-meter-long length Uses: Aluminum billets are used as a raw material in the process of extrusion and production of construction aluminum, industrial profiles, as well as the production of door cracker blades.

6063 alloys have higher extrusion rates that allow them to produce very complex shapes. Extrusion is a very important factor that is determined by the highest extrusion speed and affects the costs and efficiency of the extrusion process.

Good welding capability, corrosion resistance and very good anodizing effect and medium machining capability are the characteristics of this alloy. Used in the form of wires, rods, pipes, railings, extruded sections and profiles in the construction of doors and windows, building parts, architectural parts of extruded billets.
